Each year on this day, 23rd March, India celebrates Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs’ Day. On this day, we remember the brave hearts of our country- Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar. These freedom fighters sacrificed their lives in the process of achieving freedom in their country. Shaheed Diwas in not only celebrated in India, but other 14 countries around the world also observe it.
Why is 23rd March celebrated as Shaheed Diwas?
Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar are three revolutionaries who were arrested due to murder charges and were sentenced to death. The Lahore conspiracy case was one for which they were convicted death on 23rd March 1931 at 7.30 PM in Lahore Jail. The bodies of three brave hearts of the country were cremated on the banks of Sutlej River.
Bhagat Singh, when sentenced to death, was only 23 years old and became an inspiration for many. He is a true hero for Indians, and he is the real face of the nationalist.
Shaheed Diwas is also observed on 30th January each year in the remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the nation. On this day, along with Mahatma Gandhi, other freedom fighters remembered and their contribution to the country as well.

Shaheed Diwas is a day of great importance to all; it inspires all the young people around the country. Throughout the country, the day is celebrated in many ways, like in school plays, speech, and poetry events are organized.
